Here I'll show you some genuine medieval torture devices.
If you're getting a chill, you've got the point !
Stocks
The stork
Masks of shame
Whitches' chairs
The Throne
The Nürnberg Virgin
The Pear
The chastity belt
Please notice: The idea was to make the offender suffer - as much as humanly conceivable, but in no way to let the offender die during 'interrogation'.
These items are the real thing, and they have
been used as portrayed.
The general idea of this period in history was, that the best thing 'society'
could do for a person, was to make the offender confess as much as ever
possible, as this would reduce the risk of ending up in hell, after death.
In other words, torture was a 'service' to the offender. As the offenders
confessed to almost anything, being "put through third degree" the
observation was, that it worked..!
-a rather sick logic by today's standards, I think !
